Set 22 years after the events of Jurassic Park, the film follows Owen Grady (Pratt), a former Navy SEAL who trains Velociraptors, and Claire Dearing (Howard), the operations manager of the Jurassic World theme park, as they attempt to evacuate the park’s guests and dinosaurs after a genetically modified hybrid dinosaur, the Indominus rex, escapes and goes on a rampage. Jurassic World was released in the United States on June 12, 2015, and grossed over $1.6 billion worldwide, making it the third highest-grossing film of 2015 and the highest-grossing film in the Jurassic Park franchise. The film received mixed reviews from critics, with praise for the visuals, action sequences, and Pratt’s performance, but criticism for its thin characters and plot. Plot In 2015, 22 years after the events of Jurassic Park, the Jurassic World theme park has been open for business for four years. The park is a popular tourist destination, and its attractions include genetically engineered dinosaurs, such as the Indominus rex, a hybrid dinosaur created by splicing the DNA of several different species. Owen Grady (Chris Pratt), a former Navy SEAL who trains Velociraptors, is brought to Jurassic World by Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard), the park’s operations manager, to help her with a new project: a Velociraptor training program. Owen is skeptical of the project, but he agrees to help Claire after she tells him that the park is planning to use the Velociraptors in a new show. Meanwhile, a group of mercenaries led by Vic Hoskins (Vincent D’Onofrio) arrive at Jurassic World with the intention of capturing the Indominus rex and selling it to the military. Hoskins and his men steal a Velociraptor egg from Owen’s research facility, and they hatch the egg in an attempt to create a new Indominus rex. The Indominus rex escapes from its enclosure and goes on a rampage, killing several people and destroying the park’s attractions. Owen and Claire attempt to evacuate the park’s guests and dinosaurs, but they are forced to take refuge in the park’s control room when the Indominus rex attacks. The Indominus rex eventually breaks into the control room, and it kills Hoskins and his men. Owen and Claire escape the control room, and they are rescued by the park’s security team. The Indominus rex is killed by the park’s Tyrannosaurus rex, and the park is closed down. Cast
