Aqueduct Casino is a casino and racetrack located in Ozone Park, Queens, New York. It is owned by the New York City Off-Track Betting Corporation (NYC OTB) and operated by MGM Resorts International. The casino opened in 2011 and is the only casino in New York City.
History
The Aqueduct Racetrack was originally built in 1898 and was one of the most popular racetracks in the country. However, the racetrack fell on hard times in the 1970s and 1980s and was eventually closed in 1991.
In 1995, the New York City Off-Track Betting Corporation (NYC OTB) purchased the Aqueduct Racetrack and began plans to build a casino on the site. The casino opened in 2011 and was an immediate success.
