Prairie Meadows Casino & Racetrack was opened in 1989. It was the first casino to open in Iowa after the state legalized casino gambling in 1989. The casino was originally owned by the Prairie Meadows Racing & Gaming Authority, a state agency. In 2007, the casino was sold to Caesars Entertainment Corporation.
