History
The land on which 1 Casino Terrace now sits was originally owned by the Narragansett Tribe. In 1978, the tribe signed a land claims settlement with the state of Rhode Island, which included a provision for the tribe to develop a casino on the land. The tribe later entered into a partnership with the Mohegan Sun Tribe of Connecticut to develop the casino.
Construction on 1 Casino Terrace began in 2015 and the casino opened in 2018. The casino was an immediate success, generating over $1 billion in revenue in its first year of operation.
