It’s not often a web series that launches with as much hype as Let me breathe has. Candice Rogers’ latest project, the animated series, focuses on eleven children tasked with curing the zombie apocalypse. Turning the typical zombie stereotypes upside down, Let me breathe reinvents the genre.
In the early 10’s, zombies took over pop culture thanks to AMC’s overnight success The living DeadNow that we are in a pandemic, these kinds of TV shows and movies are a perfect fit for those times. Plus, the first teasers for Let me breathe shows numerous idiosyncratic characters amid impending doom. Not what you would expect from an animated web series.
Saving the world from disaster
Watching so many zombie shows and movies adapting to life after the apocalypse hits. But the animated series Let me breathe turns the trope upside down. Rather than just another show with people adapting to life in a zombie world, it lets our main characters actively stop the apocalypse.
Our eleven main characters, led by 5, were once zombies themselves. Fortunately, however, these young children have been healed in time and are now doing the same for others. The eleven children try to vaccinate survivors and heal existing zombies and try to do their part to save the world.
Candice Rogers is no stranger to animation. With years of indie films to her credit, Rogers has animated a variety of parodies, web series and skits on YouTube. Rogers also worked as a part-time writer and assistant designer at Ani-Flix Studios and has worked on several projects prior to creating, writing and animated the episodes from Let me breathe
While this is her first time directing an animated series, Rogers is confident that the story will be told Let me breatheRogers is gaining traction online and already has a dedicated fan base Let me breathe before the first episode even dropped online.
Over the years, indie animation series have become a niche high point online, with shows such as Nickname cleared and Hazbin Hotel lots of fans on social media and beyond. Based on the social media responses so far, it seems Let me breathe is going to hit the same song and become a fan favorite once the first six-episode season comes to an end.
Reunite old colleagues
Currently, Let me breathe is located in the VO stage, with its voice actors recording the dialogue for the animated series. One of the actors leading the cast is Boris sweater, with whom Rodgers has worked in the past. Almost a decade ago, the two worked together on an indie film, so Rogers is happy to be reunited with the actor.
To be continued
Although there are plenty of teasers and sample images Let me breathe, the show itself is still in production. There’s no word yet on where the show will air, whether on network TV or while streaming. Regardless, we know it will be an instant hit once on the air.
