Elisabeth Moss returns as June – or Offred – in the fourth season of The Handmaid’s Tale, adapted from (and extends far beyond) Margaret Atwood’s 1980s dystopian novel of the same name. Watch the next episode and find out where to watch The Handmaid’s Tale season 4 online from where you are below.
Set in a dystopian society called Gilead, located in the United States, a decline in fertility rates sees a collapse in the world as we know it, with women falling to the bottom of the hierarchy and those still able to give birth ( the so-called handmaids) are introduced to powerful couples known as the ‘ruling elite’, who participate in a ceremony of ritualized rape to conceive a baby.
With Joseph Fiennes and Yvonne Strahovski as Commander Fred Waterford and Serena Joy Waterford, other famous faces include Ann Dowd as Aunt Lydia and Alexis Bledel as Emily / Ofglen.
The Handmaid’s Tale TV show extends beyond the parameters of the original novel, with Season 3 finding June back in the clutches of Gilead after her escape in Season 2. Helping bring innocent women and children out of Gilead and crossing the border stabbing to Canada, season 3 ends on a cliffhanger with June back in the line of fire and about to enter the Resistance.
