Although Mira Nair’s A suitable boy didn’t really get an overwhelming response, it’s still the story of a few people in the 1950s on their way to self-discovery. Although the characters seem caricature and sometimes noisy A suitable boy doesn’t really deviate from the main storyline and has enough elements to keep the audience captivated throughout the season. A suitable boy stars Ishan Khattar, Tabu and Tania Maniktala in central roles.

Directed by Thiagarajan Kumararaja, who also made Super Deluxe Aaranya Kaandam is a brilliant example of a neo-noir film showing impeccable writing and how it can have impact as a movie viewing experience. 5. The Chicago 7 Trial – Netflix
Definitely one of the contenders for next year’s Academy Awards, this Alan Sorkin movie hits all the right notes in terms of a movie-watching experience. It’s uplifting, enlightening and sometimes even unintentionally funny when we take on the role of a fly on the wall in the courtroom where seven people are on trial for alleged incitement to violence in 1960s Chicago. The movie features some of the most talented actors in Hollywood, including Sacha Baron Cohen, Eddie Redmayne, Jeremy Strong, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
