What to Watch Today: 5 Best Shows and Movies on Voot Select, Disney + Hotstar, and Lionsgate Play | FilmyOne.com

It’s the end of the week, and even though you have spent most of it at home, it has been pretty exhausting for all of us. If you want to relax this weekend, watching some of the best shows and movies on OTT platforms might be a good place to start. Here are five shows and movies on Voot Select, Disney + Hotstar, and Lionsgate Play for you to watch:

5 shows and movies to watch on Voot Select, Disney + Hotstar and Lionsgate Play

1. Easttown Mare – Disney + Hotstar

This HBO crime thriller is the latest addition to the slow-burn, petty crime thriller genre, and with only two episodes in, the verdict is unanimously positive. Starring Kate Winslet as Detective Mare Sheehan, the series is set in a small Pennsylvania town where a gruesome murder has turned the city upside down. It’s up to Sheehan to resolve the matter, but at the same time, her life, which seems to be changing so quickly, also needs desperate attention from her. The show’s first episode, like almost every entry in this genre, is slow, but does a great job setting up the rest of the episodes.

2. Dev – Voot Select

Another investigative thriller to keep you hooked on your screens this weekend, The V starring Ashish Chaudhary is inspired by real life events. This fictionalized version of these events puts the viewers in the world of Dev Burman, a detective tasked with solving these cases. His charismatic personality is what brings the whole show together. The season is filled with twists and performances that will hold you back.

3. Poor Education – Disney + Hotstar

Starring Hugh Jackman and Allison Janney, Bad education is a true story about the world’s greatest education. After putting Roslyn Schools on the map, Frank Tassone and his assistant are caught in an embezzlement that raises serious questions about their credibility.

4. Dune – Lionsgate Play

At the time an ambitious project, Dune is a futuristic tale in which two factions – the Harkonnens and Fremen, led by Duke Leto Atreides – are at war on a sandy planet called Arrakis. When the Harkonnens try to conquer Arrakis, it’s up to the Duke’s son, Paul (played by Kyle MacLachlan) to lead his army in a battle for control of the planet and its most valuable herb, Melange. While the film didn’t really fare well in 1984, the fact that it will be releasing a remake with an all-star cast says this film is well worth a visit.

5. Lootcase – Disney + Hotstar

A classic tale of misunderstandings and confusion, Lootcase stars some of India’s best comedic actors in Vijay Raaz, Gajraj Singh and Ranvir Shorey. And with Kunal Khemu and Rasika Duggal playing the quintessential middle class family to perfection, Lootcase is a fun movie that you can watch with the whole family. Lootcase was one of the funniest movies I saw during the lockdown and it’s a must have experience.
