If you’d like to make your Sunday a little better by watching some of the best shows and movies, we’ve got a few suggestions. Here are five shows and movies on SonyLIV, Disney + Hotstar, and Apple TV + you could watch today:

5 shows and movies on SonyLIV, Disney + Hotstar and Apple TV + to watch

1. Scam 1992 – Sony LIV

One of the best Indian shows ever released, Scam 1992, based on the rise of Harshad Mehta and the eventual decline of the Bombay Stock Markets is as entertaining as it can get. Directed by Hansal Mehta, Scam 1992 follows Sucheta Dalal – the journalist who eventually broke the story that led to the downfall of the Harshad Mehta Empire. The show features a breakout performance by Pratik Gandhi as Harshad Mehta, along with Shreya Dhanwanthary as Sucheta Dalal.

2. Beyond – Disney + Hotstar

A fun animation feature to take you away from the gloomy times we live in, Forward features some really good actors like Tom Holland, Chris Pratt and Julia Louis-Dreyfus in lead roles. A story of two brothers who just wanted to spend one more day with their late father, Forward has the right mix of fantasy and health to warm your heart. Pixar movies are criminally underrated and often fall into the category of children’s movies, but in reality they are much more than that. These films are packed with emotions and with animation that simply acts as a medium, people of all age groups can enjoy these films equally.

3. Defend Jacob – Apple TV

The series is based on a book of the same name in which a couple tries their best to prove the innocence of their 14-year-old son. Defend Jacob was one of the first high-profile releases on the platform and the miniseries really holds up and is not weighed down by expectations. With Chris Evans and Michelle Dockery as the parents, the show has some really good performances to keep you invested.

4. Tanhaji – Disney + Hotstar

While period dramas aren’t always the formula for a blockbuster hit, this one was. The story follows Ajay Devgn as the titular character, a Maratha warrior who is Shivaji Maharaj’s trusted lieutenant. He is now responsible for protecting Kondana Fort when the Mughals set out to invade and conquer. While Devgn plays his part well, it is a lot of fun to watch Saif Ali Khan’s portrayal of Udhayban Singh Rathore.

5. Bhonsle – SonyLIV

Kind of an underrated gem, it still amazes me how the masses have overlooked this masterclass in Manoj Bajpayee. In the titular role, Bajpayee plays a retired police officer in Mumbai who befriends a North Indian girl and her brother and protects them and other migrants in the city from local politicians who bully them. A quiet yet effective performance of Bajpayee definitely sets the tone for the movie and should definitely be on your watch list.
