The whole country is looking to Northeast India these days. Shooting movie stars by going there has also caught people’s attention here. First Ayushman went to Khurana. Then Varun went to Dhawan. Also included in these areas is Prime Video ‘s new web series’ The Lost Hour’. The lush green of the high ridges and the silence far and wide. Alone, the clouds stand and kiss the tops of the cool standing mountains. And broken roads. This is what the first glimpse of the web series ‘The Lost Hour’ shows us. The story of the series is good. It is also good that most of the artists who work there are also from the Northeast. In the audiovisual medium, however, the makers kept a view of the scene, but what is heard by the audience, that is, the speech and dialogue do not correspond to the images.

In the film ‘Bahubali’, a mole king threatens Mahishmati in his own dialect. Rajamouli took this idea from ‘Lord of the Rings’. Those who make Hindi film and web series will also have to get out of the temptation to say everything in a running bid. Dialects are the soul of India. Its idiom, folklore is the rhythm of this soul. Abuse too. Karma Takapa, who came out of the Pune Film Institute to become the main character Dev of the web series ‘The Lost Hour’, should have at least resisted the fact that North East’s character cannot speak Hindi so clearly. Most people know Amit Kumar from his Nawazuddin movie ‘Monsoon Shootout’. Amit co-produced the series with Anupama Minj. But the director’s problems are the main drawbacks of this series.

The web series ‘The Lost Hour’ is a story of Shaman, also known as Jhakhari. According to local folklore, these people can know the events of the dead human body only an hour before death. The first such read developer does that of his brother. This is the biggest hit of the series. Dev’s girlfriend feeds Momo and speaks typical Hindi. The episode describes the filling of Shahana Goswami sandwich. The story continues to unfold, but the story slowly begins to derail. Under the rules of which a police officer who worked for the Maharashtra Police Department reached a state in the Northeast, the authors should tell. Dev’s relationship with his daughter is interesting and also arouses eagerness for the series’ second season. But getting to the end of the first series of the story repeatedly is an injustice with a good idea.

North East is more beautiful than can be seen in this series. Every time I miss my road trip from Bagdogra to Kalingpong I feel like coming back to this area. Jayesh Nair showed the location well, according to the story. However, his camera lacked proper filming of the local way of life, color and traditions. How the camera escapes while filming a thrilling thriller on the mountain can still be learned by watching Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s 1985 release ‘Khamosh’. Peter Alderlieston has done well in the mountains in the montage, using clouds, but after a while it starts to seem repetitive to the viewer and provoke it too.

In the cast, this series will be the show role of Karama Takapa and Shiali Krishen. Both have also done very well. If their dialogues were conducted by the local dialect, it will be icing on the cake. Shahana Goswami is fit in the role of Under Inspector. Playing pranks on his police officer Arup also adds a bit of romantic color to the story. For Sanjay Kapoor, this web series could have been given a new lease of life in terms of acting. In the early episodes, Sanjay Kapoor’s face also has different expressions, but then the same lethargy surrounds him, preventing him from racing on the big screen for long. The web series ‘The Lost Hour’ has a good plot for the first season. It’s also waiting for the second season, but for that, its creative team needs a little overhaul.
