Jessica Hynes and Simon Pegg star together as Londoners in their twenties who move in together after struggling to fit in elsewhere. Spaced, the sitcom they made together, is a humorous ‘Generation X’ story that essentially depicts a fictionalized version of their own struggles as young people trying to find work in the capital.

About the origin of the show, Hynes said to Vice: “I was living in my friend’s squat at the time. Simon had a degree from Bristol University and could spell; I had an electric typewriter and some Tipp-Ex. I still have the very first thing ever put on paper for Spaced, a Marsha monologue – that was the very beginning. “
