VIEW | New ‘Justice League’ trailer sets the internet on fire as Joker steals the show

WASHINGTON: The new trailer for Zack Snyder’s “Justice League” dropped yesterday and it was the last few seconds of the trailer that set social media ablaze over Jared Leto’s Joker’s “Society” rule.

Leto’s Joker, which is much darker and creepier than its earlier appearance, actually says “We live in a society,” which has been a Joker-related meme for years. According to The Hollywood Reporter, no iteration of the Joker has ever said the phrase on film, even though there was a petition to have Joaquin Phoenix do it in 2019’s ‘Joker’.

The phrase was trending online as fans were happy it was said. Later Leto let everyone know he was there when he tweeted the trailer and wrote, “We live in a society.”

For the new version, Snyder filmed several minutes of new footage and gathered cast members Ben Affleck (Batman), Ray Fisher (Cyborg) and Amber Heard (Mera) for the new footage. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Zack Snyder’s R-rated ‘Justice League’ hits HBO Max on March 18.
