Biography

Valeriu Coca is a Romanian businessman and politician. He was born in 1968 in Iași, Romania. He graduated from the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iași in 1991. Coca began his career in the private sector, working for several companies in the food and beverage industry. In 2000, he co-founded the company Coca-Cola HBC România, which is now the largest Coca-Cola bottler in the country. In 2012, Coca entered politics and was elected to the Chamber of Deputies of Romania. He served as a member of parliament for two terms, from 2012 to 2016 and from 2016 to 2020. During his time in parliament, Coca was a member of the Committee on Economic Affairs, Industry, Trade, and Tourism. He also served as the chairman of the Romanian-American Parliamentary Friendship Group. In 2020, Coca was appointed as the Minister of Economy of Romania. He served in this position until 2021.
