1. Purdue: Fascinating Maui Invitational battle on Monday against Gonzaga, a very similar schedule.
2. Marquette: The Golden Eagles remain the last team to beat UConn.
3. Kansas: Jayhawks will be tested in Maui.

5. Arizona: Kylan Boswell can play on my team.

Opinion on UConn’s Performance

It’s starting to feel like the Bluejays (or Marquette) could be UConn’s toughest foe this season. Will Rick Barnes ever perform better in the NCAA Tournament? We think the Aggies are a dark horse Final Four team.

Upcoming Challenges for UConn

A big effort in Maui could see Zags move up the rankings in time for the Dec. 15 showdown with UConn. We’ll see what Armando Bacot can do against UConn on December 5.

Unpopular opinion: Penny Hardaway is a pretty good coach. The national media’s love for Tom Izzo knows no bounds.

Surprising Rankings

James Madison: Football and basketball programs both ranked. State of Mississippi: Chris Jans has no sympathy for Hurleys (Dan in 2022, Bobby a few weeks ago) State of Michigan: The national media’s love for Tom Izzo knows no bounds.

Teams to Watch Out For

Miami: ‘Canes now 5-0 after winning the Baha Mar Hoops title. Kentucky: Wildcats were able to contain Jackson Benigni on Friday night.

Disappointing Performances

Illinois: Couldn’t stop Tyler Kolek in a home loss to Marquette on Tuesday. Alabama: Averaged 101.8 points per game, but hasn’t beaten anyone yet. Florida Atlantic Ocean: We’re nice to keep Owls in the rankings after home loss to…Bryant?

UConn’s Next Match

Not much change at the top, but plenty of movement in and out of the bottom half of our AP Top 25 voting this week.

We considered Providence, Dayton, Michigan, Kansas State and even Vermont. But we stick to our personal rule of not ranking a new team that has lost at least once that week.

  5. Arizona: Kylan Boswell can play on my team.
