Unpaused Movie: Review with Complete Analysis

Revolving around a common theme of the pandemic -five stories, filmmakers dedicate their short to this global horror’s consequences — virtual love, thoughts on suicide and mental health, unemployment and survival, loneliness and companionship.
The film’s last short ‘Chaand Mubarak’ by Nitya Mehra is also its most effective. Starring veteran actress Ratna Pathak Shah and Shardul Bhardwaj, this one goes straight to the heart and will stay with you.

The first story is called Glitch and is futuristic, showing a world, 12 years later, still struggling with coronavirus but this time it’s called COVID-30.

A hypochondriac Ahan (Gulshan Devaiah) goes on virtual dates and his 193rd match is Ayesha (Saiyami Kher). During their meet at a VR cafe, things go well till Ayesha being a COVID warrior becomes a deal-breaker.

Mehra’s track is the undisputed winner among the five. The film saves the best for last.
They throw light on the social dynamics of the “new normal” and the difficult-to-bridge chasm between the haves and the have-nots, which the pandemic has exposed more cruelly than anything ever has.

Second story: When the owner of a successful online news magazine learns of her husband’s sexual indiscretions, she is left shocked and unable to come to terms with it. Hopeless, she spirals into a dark maze of self-blame and attempts to end her own life.

Third Story: Two women- one who chose to be alone and the other who is alone because of circumstances, confront loneliness and form an unlikely friendship during lockdown which brings them hope and a new beginning.

Then comes Vishaanu where the story of migrant labor and his family are shown in a completely different light and the last is Chaand Mubarak, a story about helping each other out intense times, starring Ratna Pathak Shah and Shardul Bhardwaj.

Watch Or Not??

  • It Is a Must Watch Movie.
  • I have watched this movie, and yes it’s not that great but a good movie, Better than other Overrated movies released on OTT Platforms.
  • There won’t be any reason to hit the pause button on Unpaused when you stream it on Amazon Prime Video.
  • With some really incredible actors in the cast, all the segments have amazing performances. The stand-out ones are of course Abhishek Bannerjee and Geetika Vidya Ohlyan in Vishaanu and Gulshan Devaiah in Glitch.
