Happy free Sims 4 Eve for everyone, because the popular simulation game is just one day away from downloading and playing for the high price of a lazy squat.
EA has confirmed that starting tomorrow (October 18), you can download and play your own copy of The Sims 4 for PCs, Macs and consoles for free.
Meanwhile, if you just bought The Sims 4 and are feeling a little silly that it’s about to be given away for free, you can console yourself (geddit?) with a free furniture expansion pack.
More information about this giveaway will be revealed during a special stream on The Sims YouTube and Twitch channels at 10am PDT, which is 5pm GMT.

This is probably a really smart move by EA, since The Sims 4 has been out since 2014 and pretty much everyone who wanted to buy it probably got it by now.
These days, The Sims makes money selling new waves of DLC, so by going free with the base game, they’re hoping for legions of new players who want all those expansion packs.
The first thing anyone does while playing The Sims is spend about 10 hours creating characters adjusting each individual slider until you get your sim just right.
The second is obvious how to kill your finely crafted computer character in cruel and creative ways.
Popular methods of cheating your Sims include locking them in a pool until they drown, or simply building a wall around them until they starve.
Or, if you’re anything like me, you kill your first sims completely by accident because you flipped the fridge the wrong way around and none of them have access to food.

I wrote that as a learning experience and learned that in the good old days of The Sims 2 you could make quite a bit of money selling the headstones that pop up when a sim dies.
One of the best things about The Sims is that you can take the game and tell pretty much any story you want, and it turns out quite a few people love to recreate their favorite shows.
What you will do is entirely up to you.
