One of the entertainment trends during the COVID-19 era that somewhat confused me is the popularity of horror movies and shows on Netflix. You would think that people want to escape from everything that reminds them of gloom and despair. As I type these words, The old ways is the number 6 title on Netflix’s Top 10 Movies list. This movie has just been added to Netflix after its October 2020 premiere at the Sitges Film Festival in Spain. Brief: The main character (played by Brigette Kali Canales) is a Mexican-American journalist named Cristina Lopez. She visits her hometown in Mexico to cover a story about witchcraft. Unfortunately, a local gang kidnaps her. And from there it gets a lot worse for her.
