A very pleasing historical drama, The last kingdom, based on Bernard Cornwell’s Saxon Stories series Novel, will be back soon. It wouldn’t be long before fans could enjoy the epic cinematography and powerful action scenes. After four wonderful seasons, season 5 is already around the corner while filming is taking place. Here are all the details.
When will season 5 of The Last Kingdom be released?
Season 4 of The Last Kingdom premiered in April 2020, Netflix announced the extension. Recordings for the show took place in Hungary and production is underway.
The show usually brings out the next season within an 18-month timeframe as the show could have been released in October 2021, but Covid 19 has obscured the release. Speculation suggests the show won’t premiere until 2022.
Who will be in the cast of The Last Kingdom season 5?
The show makers are quiet and have not spilled the beans. No details on the official star cast have been published, but Alexander Dreymon, who plays Uhtred of Bebbanburg, has a sure chance of returning.
Emily Fox will also reprise the character of Brida, who was last seen giving birth alone in the woods. Adrian Schiller has confirmed his role as Aethelhelm in season 5. The trio, Mark Rowly, Ewan Mitchell and Arnas Fedaravicius, are expected to return.

Season 5 of The Last Kingdom is based on the ninth and tenth novels, Warriors of the Storm and The Flame Bearer. In season 5 many questions have to be answered, such as; Will Uhtred fight for his love, Aetheflaed, or will he side with his daughter and Danes?
Also, whether Uhtred will attempt to retake Bebbanburg, new threats are expected from the north and east. Keep guessing until the official synopsis is announced.
