‘The Expanse’ season 5 episode 9 is entitled ‘Winnipesaukee.’ In the previous episode, Holden receives news of Naomi’s old emergency call and discovers that Alex and Bobbie have found her. We’ll see if Holden gets Naomi’s modified message on time or not. In the upcoming episode we will also know if Naomi is actually in control of the situation or not.
Paster and his team seem determined to attack Pallas, which could mean a full-scale war over the solar system. Karal still sees Naomi as a traitor and believes she is dead. She and Oksana were together when Karal receives Naomi’s custom message, which could lead to a conflict of interest between them.
The Expanse Season 5 Episode 8 Recap
Season 5’s eighth episode is entitled “Hard Vacuum.” On Earth, Mao feels much better because the blocking drugs are almost flushed out of her body. Amos and Clarissa are increasingly aware of the planet’s bleak future. She repeats Amos’s thoughts and agrees that they should “get out of there.”
Marco is upset about Cyn’s death, and he blames Filip. However, he is interested in knowing how Naomi ‘died’. Filip tells her that she got out of the airlock and ‘wanted’ to die. Although Naomi made it to the Chetzemoka, it doesn’t change the fact that it’s still an ace for the Rocinante. Her ship is a bomb that is activated when the Roci gets close.
Holden, Bull and Monica cannot find a trace of the protomolecule after the Zmeya explodes. Holden decides to set a course for the Razorback to help Alex and Bobbie find Naomi. Holden receives the news of the Chetzemoka’s old computerized distress call. This leads him to believe that Naomi needs help, but unaware that Marco is using her ship to lure them to their deaths.
As David Paster officially assumes the role of Secretary General, he makes it clear that they will “hunt” Marco Inaros and his allies and make them pay for their acts of terrorism. But how he keeps his promise starts a heated debate among his advisers who consider attacking Pallas, meaning they must kill innocent Belters. While most of them, including Delgado, support, Avasarala disagrees as she thinks it will radicalize the Belters against the inner planets.
Drummer’s crew seems to be in a dilemma, as they have differing opinions on whether it was the right decision to side with Marco. It especially weighs heavily on Drummer himself. At the end of the episode, Naomi manages to change the message to make it sound like she’s “in control.” Karal and Oksana receive the changed message and wonder if there is anyone on the ship and if it could be Naomi herself. But this does not mean that Naomi is out of danger.
