If you’re a big fan of comic books, then you must already have a good idea of the 2020 Bloodshot movie. For those with little knowledge of the Valiant comic universe, the ending of the movie may have left you utterly dazed. . While the ending seems convincing enough, just before the scene went into the credits, there were some questions that suddenly make you think of it. Was the ending reality for Ray, or just an incentive for Bloodshot? Have they really escaped RST, or are they being manipulated again? In this article you will find the end of ‘Bloodshot’ Explained.
The film exudes the superhero vibes, where it resembles the origin story of Bloodshot. An interesting fact about the film is that production had already started in 2021. Sony used to release superhero movies and decided to release Bloodshot as their other Cinematic Universe like the Marvels. However, with the immense success of the MCU, Sony thought it best to wait a little longer. They also had quite a few problems with the productions in the beginning. It was also rumored that Jared Leto would play the part of Bloodshot, but Vin Diesel was later selected for the role.
Bloodshot – The Plot
The plot of the film is not that complicated. When you watch the movie, you’ll pretty much understand that Ray was a soldier who saw his wife murdered right before his eyes, and now he must take revenge. RST helps him to another life, they make him stronger and almost invincible. Like any other superhero movie, it was made stronger with a nanotechnology known as nanites, which makes it extremely fast to heal. However, in the second half of the film, we discover that there was no such thing.
With the other “superhero” Wigans, Ray finds out that RST has erased his memory and used him for their own benefit. This infuriates Ray and he goes to fight RST. He fails in the first fight and the RST catches him again. They also erase his memory again. KT, another of his teammate comes to the rescue this time and helps him regain consciousness.
Ray tries to uncover his truth and finds out that his ex-wife is really alive. They divorced a long time ago because the marriage couldn’t work anymore. He becomes very heartbroken and again goes against the RST. This time he comes back victorious. Wigans, KT and Ray now go to a faraway place to enjoy their lives without their past affecting them. As they share a beautiful sunset, Ray reminisces about his wife in Italy. Finally, Wigans then mentions what if RST is still manipulating them. Even KT says everything feels too good to be true. This is where the audience went wild with the ending.
The end of ‘Bloodshot’ explained
As for the ending, if we compare it to the comics, chances are RST isn’t manipulating them anymore. They killed them all and now they move on to their next mission. However, most superhero movies usually don’t exactly follow the path of the comics. In the movie, there wasn’t really a clear indication whether Dr. Harting had been murdered.
It could be that Harting managed to escape, and could come back in the sequel for revenge. If they didn’t follow the exact pattern of the strips, they may still be in stimulation. Ray thinks about his wife and the time they spent in Italy. However, we know that their marriage was not very happy and it ended pretty quickly. Ray loved his life as a soldier more. Therefore, it was hardly likely that they would have actually gone to Italy.
Another interesting aspect of the movie is that there is another alternate ending to the movie. In the VOD release of Bloodshot, we find out that Harting passed away differently. He was drowned by Ray himself. This would have given some good segway to the next installment of the comic book series. However, Sony wanted it to be more epic, which is why the elevator scene was included. The comics suggest many things in greater detail, such as Bloodshot wasn’t even Ray. There it was shown that even Ray was a stimulant, and his real origin is still unknown. If they’re planning on making a sequel, this could be an important key to linking the two films together.
