Netflix recently acquired the rights to make The Bold Type available on the streaming ecosystem. The longtime fans of the comedy drama series can stream the series on Netflix at any time. The Bold Type follows the lives of three best friends who also include colleagues Sutton, Kat; Jane is played by Meghann Fahy, Aisha Dee and Katie Stevens. The whole drama of the show depends on the fallout from the women’s magazine Scarlet.
It’s been a while since the series has released a new season, so when the real question is, when will The Bold Type’s fifth season return?
The Bold Type Season 5: release date
The show’s creators reportedly announced in January 2024 that The Bold Type will return for a final and fifth season. The end of the fourth season was not good. Additionally, like several other shows, The Bold Type has been delayed in both filming and production due to the devastating COVID-19 pandemic. However, the show’s writers had to make incredible changes to the series finale, and they scrapped two complete episodes.
The creators revealed that filming for season five would begin soon, leaving the COVID-19 intact to keep both crews and cast very safe. At the time of writing, the exact date of last season’s premiere has not been confirmed. The cast got together in a panel discussion on Zoom to provide the details of the upcoming season’s arcs.
The Bold Type Season 5: Plot
The season four finale has a seemingly less than epic season finale. At the end of season four, Sutton, Kat and Jane found themselves in a pretty awkward position.
Jane struggles with romantic on-and-off feelings for one of Scarlet’s employees. On the other hand, Kat managed to lose her job. However, there was a silver lining when she landed in an all-new relationship after exposing the president of conversion therapy at the gay community company. On the other hand, Richard and Sutton are calling for their relationship after Sutton allegedly hooked up with her lover, who was also married. So there is a big problem that Sutton has landed on.
Wendy Straker Hauser, the series’ executive producer and showrunner, hopes both Richard and Sutton will stick with the case.
The Bold Type Season 5: Cast
Meghann Fahy, Aisha Dee and Katie Stevens will reportedly reprise their respective roles as the lead trio. Already on the table, the cast is reading in to see Melora Hardin return to the publication as Jacqueline Carlyle, the editor-in-chief alongside Matt Ward and Stephen Conrad. Ward and Conrad play Alex Crawford and Oliver Grayson.
Considering that the characters have always been part of Scarlet magazine, it seems that the respective love interests of Jane and Sutton, Mat Vairo and Sam Page, are tying up the loose ends.
