Producer Sajid Nadiadwala dedicated an award that was won by Chhichhore to late actor Sushant Singh RajputThe movie won Favorite Bollywood Movie at the recent Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards 2020.

A message shared on the official Twitter handle of Sajid’s production house, Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, read, “To dedicate this award to our #SushantSinghRajput. We love you Rockstar! Thank you @ niteshtiwari22, @ShraddhaKapoor and the brilliant team. Honored to receive Favorite Bollywood Movie for #Chhichhore, @NickIndia – Heartfelt gratitude #SajidNadiadwala @WardaNadiadwala. “
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Chhichhore revolves around Aniruddha Pathak aka Anni (Sushant), whose teenage son Raghav tries to take his own life after failing the entrance exam to attend the technical college of his choice for fear of becoming a ‘Loser’. In an attempt to revive hope in Raghav, Anni tells him about his own journey as a ‘loser’ in college. His gang, including ex-wife Maya (Shraddha Kapoor), join him to complete the story.
Chhichhore was a critical and commercial success, with domestic revenues in excess of 100 crore. The Hindustan Times review called it ‘a relevant film with a pretty important message conveyed through an engaging story’.
On the first anniversary of Chhichhore’s release last September, Shraddha, Nitesh and the film’s team commemorated Sushant and paid tribute to him with an emotional video.
Sushant died on June 14 last year. While his death was labeled a suicide after an initial investigation by the Mumbai Police, the investigation has now been taken over by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Office for Narcotics Control (NCB) are respectively examining the money laundering and drugs perspectives of the case.
