No Time to Die: What We Know About Bond 25 and What Comes Next?

Like many blockbuster Hollywood movies, the new James Bond film, No Time to Die, has had its release date pushed back. Initially penned in for April 2020, we will get to see Daniel Craig in his fifth – and final – outing as the super spy on 12th November.

We know a few juicy details about the movie, and it seems Craig should get a fitting send-off for his final role as Bond. Below we are going to set out what we know about Bond’s latest adventure, and ask what will happen next?

No Time to Die: Cast and Crew

Critically-acclaimed director Cari Joji Fukunaga (True Detective, Beasts of No Nation) will take the helm for this instalment, and most fans will welcome that. Fukunaga is seen as something of a master of delivering gritty action and clever dialogue. Rami Malek will make an appearance as the main villain in No Time to Die. However, we will also get to see the return of Christoph Waltz as Blofeld. Lea Seydoux, Naomie Harris, Ralph Fiennes, Jeffery Wright and Ben Whishaw will all reprise their roles from Spectre. At two hours 43 minutes, it is set to be the longest ever Bond film.

Plot Details

The action picks up five years after the events of Spectre, with James Bond now retired and presumably winning a fortune (Bond never seems to lose, does he?) on the kind of casino games you’d find at www.casino.com/in/roulette/. Anyway, Bond is approached by his old friend Felix Leiter (Jeffery Wright) and asked to pursue the case of a missing scientist. Apart from that, details are fairly scant. Although, we are told that Bond will face the biggest danger yet (doesn’t he always), and we know he will bump into Blofeld along the way. Malik’s character has been described as “the one that really gets under Bond’s skin” and we’ll be intrigued to see what the Bohemian Rhapsody star brings to the role.

The All-Important Bond Theme

Flavour of the month, Billie Elish, sings the titular theme to No Time to Die, and she does a brilliant job. The song reached No 1 in the charts in several countries when it was released back in February.

Other Titbits

There is a big rumour that this movie might set the scene for a Bond spin-off. No Time to Die is set to feature Bond’s five-year-old daughter, Mathilde, and it seems that she might be set for a future role as a spy in spin-off movies. It seems a natural step to expand the “Bond Universe”, given the success of other franchises with “universes” like Marvel, Star Wars and DC.

And What About Bond 26?

Daniel Craig was definitely well-received as Bond, and it will be interesting to see just who it is that fills the role. As ever, there will be some grumbling about the choice, whoever it might be. James Norton (McMafia, Grantchester) leads the bookies’ odds at the moment, but there is a lot of support for Idris Elba and Tom Hiddlestone. It will also be intriguing as to whether the supporting cast will call it a day too. Do they simply replace Bond and continue along the same timeline? Or do they reboot the franchise, offering a chance for killed-off characters to return? It remains to be seen, but there seem to be a lot more stories to tell in the world of Bond, and there is no sign that cinema-goers are tired of the world of the super-charming British spy.
