Never Have I Ever Season 2: Release date revealed| check all details

Never Have I Ever season 2: Coming of age comedy-drama Never Have I Ever proved a huge hit when it landed on Netflix in April 2020. Co-created by comic Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher, Never Have I Ever follows Indian-American teen Devi Vishwakumar (played by Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) and her friends at Sherman Oaks High in California.

Is Never Have I Ever is Based on True Story?

No, ‘Never Have I Ever‘ is not based on a true story or even on the life of Mindy Kaling. However, in writing the series, she did draw from the experiences of growing up in an Indian-American household. Kaling and Fisher also relied on the personal experiences of their cast to further refine their characters.

When will Never Have I Ever season 2 be released?

Previously, Netflix releases would be dependent on when the show got the go-ahead and the amount of post-production involved.

Most Netflix shows have a turnaround of about a year but due to the coronavirus pandemic and the ensuing lockdown, film and television productions across the world have been halted.

Never Have I Ever is going to be starting production in November but the process could be a slow one due to filming restrictions created by the coronavirus pandemic.

According to Variety, there’s no clear start date due to the pandemic but it is hoped the show will be getting underway soon.

Hopefully, this means the series could be out at some point in 2021.

Never Have I Ever season 2: Cast

  • Maitreyi Ramakrishnan as Devi Vishwakumar
  • Richa Moorjani as Kamala, Devi’s cousin
  • Jaren Lewison as Ben Gross, Devi’s school nemesis (turned potential love interest?)
  • Darren Barnet as Paxton Hall-Yoshida, Devi’s friend
  • Poorna Jagannathan as Dr. Nalini Vishwakumar, Devi’s mother

What can we expect in terms of story for season 2?

There are so many unfinished stories in season 1 that are not solved yet.

Fear and confusion are what drive Devi, who spends the first season angry at the world after the shocking death of her father (Sendhil Ramamurthy).

Devi is a layered and complex character who is dealing with her grief over the death of her father, figuring out how her Indian culture fits into her life, and going through all the things that come with being a teenager, like sex and friendships and fighting with the authority figures in your life.
