Nanban (film) Nanban is a 2012 Indian Tamil-language comedy film directed by Shankar and produced by Subaskaran Allirajah under the banner of Lyca Productions. The film stars Vijay, Karthi, Shruti Haasan, and Sathyan in the lead roles, while Prakash Raj, Suman, Srikanth, and Soori play supporting roles. The film, a remake of the 2009 Telugu film Attarintiki Daredi, revolves around three friends who reunite after 10 years and set out to search for a treasure hidden by a wealthy man. It marks the first collaboration between Vijay and Karthi, and the second collaboration between Vijay and Shruti Haasan after Ghilli (2004). The film’s music was composed by Anirudh Ravichander, while cinematography was handled by Nirav Shah and editing by Anthony. The film was released on 12 July 2012 to positive reviews and became a commercial success, grossing over ?160 crore worldwide.
