Biography

Matthew Clemenson is a British actor who has starred in a number of films and television series. He is best known for his roles as Tom Branson in the ITV period drama “Downton Abbey” and as Adam Carter in the BBC thriller “Spooks”. Clemenson was born in London in 1977. He attended the University of Cambridge, where he studied English literature. After graduating, he began his acting career in the theatre. He made his television debut in the 2005 series “Doctor Who”. He has since appeared in a number of other television series, including “The Bill”, “MI-5”, and “The Hour”. Clemenson’s film credits include “The King’s Speech”, “The Woman in Black”, and “The Imitation Game”. He has also appeared in a number of music videos, including the video for Ed Sheeran’s song “Shape of You”. Clemenson is married to actress Anna Madeley. They have two children together.

Career

Clemenson’s career began in the theatre. He made his professional debut in the 2005 production of “The Merchant of Venice” at the Royal Shakespeare Company. He has since appeared in a number of other stage productions, including “Romeo and Juliet”, “Hamlet”, and “The Crucible”. Clemenson made his television debut in the 2005 series “Doctor Who”. He played the role of Rory Williams, the companion of the Doctor. He starred in the series for three seasons, before leaving in 2008.
