Master opening day box office collection in Tamil Nadu
Master is one of the highly anticipated films of 2021. It finally hits the big screens on January 13, 2021, 10 months after its scheduled release date (April 9, 2020). Prebooking opened in theaters across the country on Sunday. As expected, the fans went crazy and in no time most of the first day shows were booked in Tamil Nadu. The same is the case in other South Indian states such as Karnataka, Kerala and AP / TL.

As a result of an excellent advance booking, Master is heading for a great opening at the box office. In Tamil Nadu, the film recorded 100% opening. Keep in mind that theaters across the country are only 50% capacity due to the Covid-19 restrictions. With all limitations and restrictions in effect, Master 1st day box office collection is approximately Rs 25 crore in Tamil Nadu. XB Film Creators, the production house behind Master, shared on Twitter “25 crores + in less than 24 hours at the box office in Tamil Nadu.”

Vijay’s last three films Sarkar (Rs 31+ crore), Bigil (Rs 25+ crore) and Mersal (Rs 24+ crore) had an earth-shattering opening in Tamil Nadu. Imagine what Master’s opening day numbers would have been in normal conditions and 100% capacity.
First day pick up in other states
Not just in Tamil Nadu, but the film has done exceptionally well in other states. In Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra, the film exceeded expectations, publishing massive numbers on its first day of release. In Karnataka, Kerala and AP / TL, Master’s combined first day collection is approximately Rs 15 crore (gross). Here’s a look at the opening day (gross collection) estimates in major states:
Tamil Nadu: 25 crore
Andhra Pradesh and Telangana: Rs 9.4 crore
Karnataka: Rs 4.3 crore
Kerala: Rs 2.1 crore
Rest of India: Rs 0.7 crore
Total: Rs 40 crore
These are exceptional numbers given that theaters are allowed to open with only 50% occupancy.
