What is the Maine Gambling Control Unit?
The Maine Gambling Control Unit (MGCU) is a state agency responsible for regulating all forms of gambling in Maine. The MGCU was created in 1993 by the Maine Legislature and is governed by a five-member board appointed by the governor. The MGCU’s mission is to “promote the responsible growth of the gaming industry in Maine while protecting the interests of the state and its citizens.”
