Maara Movie review: Complete Analysis
Maara (R Madhavan) is unconventional. He is a guy who invites a thief to party with him at home on New Year’s Eve. Madhavan also buys kulfi in the middle of the night only to make the ice cream vendor smile.
He is natural and has given his all to live the character of Maara. His charm and effervescent cheer are the highlights. The only drawback is the look that he chose for this character. He could have probably concentrated more on the outfits like what Dulquer Salmaan did in the original to give authenticity to the character.
Maara is a remake of Charlie, the 2016 Malayalam film starring Dulquer and Parvathy, which I haven’t seen, so I can’t say how faithful it is to the original. But to pull off a film like this, with its unexpected beats and rhythms, which keep taking us down paths that round upon themselves in their own sweet time, is not easy.
Dialogues are intelligent and sound conversational. A minimal sketch portion we see in the beginning has been done well. Costumes, make-up, music, every department right on cue jumps on to the word ‘warm’.
