Jenna Wolfenson is a renowned American businesswoman and philanthropist. She is the former president of the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) and the current CEO of the Monumental Sports & Entertainment Group. Wolfenson was born in New York City in 1963. She attended Harvard University, where she earned a degree in economics. After graduating from Harvard, Wolfenson worked for the investment banking firm Goldman Sachs. In 1999, she was hired as the president of the WNBA. Under Wolfenson’s leadership, the WNBA grew in popularity and financial success. She oversaw the expansion of the league from 12 teams to 16 teams, and she negotiated a new television deal that increased the league’s revenue. Wolfenson also played a key role in the development of the WNBA’s international presence. In 2014, Wolfenson left the WNBA to become the CEO of the Monumental Sports & Entertainment Group. Monumental Sports & Entertainment owns and operates the Washington Wizards, the Washington Mystics, and the Capital One Arena. Wolfenson is a passionate advocate for women’s empowerment and gender equality. She is a member of the board of directors of the National Women’s Law Center and the Women’s Sports Foundation. She is also a co-founder of the Women’s Sports Foundation’s Change the Game initiative. Wolfenson has received numerous awards for her work in business and philanthropy. In 2010, she was named one of Fortune magazine’s “50 Most Powerful Women in Business.” In 2014, she was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
