New Delhi: Shortly after the unique and auspicious cinema collective Indian Women Rising announced its inaugural project with Karishma Dev Dube director Bittu on Tuesday, the trailer for the short film was released today on Indian Women Rising’s official YouTube page.
Ekta Kapoor, Guneet Monga, Tahira Kashyap Khurrana and Ruchikaa Kapoor’s Indian Women Rising have chosen the Student Academy Awardee ‘Bittu’ as their first project to promote and spotlight the film at the Oscars race in the Short Film category.
Bittu has had a great festival run with 18+ festivals and multiple wins. After screening at the BFI London Film Festival, Telluride, Palm Springs Shortfest, HollyShorts (where Karishma won the Best Director Award), Bittu also came to India with the Dharamshala International Film Festival. The trailer for the yet to be released film ‘Bittu’ was released on the internet today and offers an insight into the heartwarming story.
Bittu tells the story of friendship between two young school girls and is based on a tragic incident in the background.
From casting real children through the Himalayan valleys to shooting against the backdrop of the mountains, the film offers both a visual aesthetic and an authentic experience, which is evident in the trailer.
Selecting ‘Bittu’ as the girls’ project under ‘Indian Women Rising’, the talented trio of Ekta Kapoor, Guneet Monga, Tahira Kashyap Khurrana and Ruchikaa Kapoor are determined to amplify the story presented by a strong team of women with Karishma Dev Dube in the director’s hat, Shreya Dev Dube as cinematographer and Mary Evangelista produced the film.
The Indian Women Rising cinema collective aims to discover Indian female film talent and expand its marketing, sales and distribution beyond demographic boundaries.
