After winning the rights from Sony a few years ago, the IPL is Disney + Hotstar’s main program and pitch this to advertisers before the tournament kicks off in April.
They project a reach of 260-280 million viewers on the platform, with an expected 50-60% higher viewing time.
Disney + Hotstar can also tap into three other major cricket tournaments in their marketing pitch, including the India-England series, Asia Cup and ICC World T20.
They had more than 300 brands advertised on their platform in 2020 and will aim to grow on that as the 2021 IPL auction approaches and the regular season approaches.
There are a total of 292 players in the 2021 auction, with each party eligible for up to eight international players.
