Old fashioned pancakes

Do you long for the basics? Everyone should know how to make those good, traditional pancakes. Not only are they easy – you probably already have them ingredients in your arsenal

This recipe delivers ten pancakes and should only last approx twenty minutes to complete.


1 cup all-purpose flour, 2 ¼ teaspoons baking powder, 1 ½ tablespoons granulated sugar, ¼ teaspoon salt, 1 ¼ cup milk, ¼ cup unsalted butter (melted), 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1 large egg, vegetable oil.

Travel directions

  1. Sift the flour, baking powder, sugar and salt into a large bowl.
  2. Beat the milk, butter, vanilla and egg in a medium bowl.
  3. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and beat until combined. Be careful not to over-mix.
  4. Pour vegetable oil or butter into a large skillet or baking tray.
  5. Heat the pan over medium heat and pour the pancake batter into a 1/4 measuring cup.
  6. Cook for one to two minutes until small bubbles begin to form on the surface and edges or until the pancake is golden brown. Flip the pancake and cook for another one to two minutes until the other side is also golden brown.
  7. Repeat until the batter is finished and serve!

Pumpkin pancakes

Sure, we might be way past the fall break when pumpkins are all the rage, but that doesn’t mean we can’t still enjoy the healthy orange squash that looks so beautifully carved. Pumpkin is such a delicious way to eat spice up your recipes

This recipe delivers twelve pancakes and takes approx thirty minutes to make.


2 cups of flour, 1 ½ cups of milk, 1 cup of pumpkin puree, 2 eggs, 3 tablespoons of brown sugar, 3 teaspoons of baking powder, 1 teaspoon of allspice, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder, ½ teaspoon of ginger powder, ½ teaspoon of nutmeg, ½ teaspoon of salt, teaspoon of vanilla extract.

Travel directions

  1. Beat the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg in a large bowl.
  2. In a separate medium bowl, whisk both sugars, vanilla extract, pumpkin puree, eggs, melted butter, and milk together.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients over the dry ingredients and beat to combine. The batter will become lumpy, do not mix too much.
  4. Preheat the griddle or large non-stick skillet over medium heat and butter, or spray with nonstick cooking spray if desired.
  5. For each pancake, pour a cup of batter and divide it into a circle.
  6. Bake each pancake for about four minutes per side.
  7. Serve with a pinch of nuts or one of your favorite toppings.

Dutch baby pancakes

This recipe serves four and takes approx thirty minutes to prepare.


1/2 cup all purpose flour, 2 tablespoons sugar, 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt, 3 large eggs, 3/4 cup whole milk, 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract, 3 tablespoons unsalted butter.

Travel directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425 ° F, with a medium cast iron skillet or oven-safe pan inside on the center rack.
  2. Beat the eggs by hand or with a blender until pale and frothy, then add flour, sugar and salt, milk and vanilla. Keep mixing until the batter is smooth and thin.

This recipe delivers eight servings and should take approx forty five minutes to prepare.


1 3/4 c. all-purpose flour, 2 tsp. baking powder, 1/2 tsp. baking soda, 2 tbsp. packed brown sugar, 1 tsp. kosher salt, 1 tsp. cinnamon, 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg, 1/4 tsp. ground ginger, 1 3/4 c. buttermilk, 2 small sweet potatoes (roasted and mashed, you will get about ¾ cup of puree), 2 large eggs, 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract.

Travel directions

  1. Beat flour, baking powder, baking powder, brown sugar, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger in a large bowl.
  2. Beat together buttermilk and sweet potato puree and add the eggs and vanilla in a separate bowl.
  3. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and stir until combined.
  4. Melt butter in a large nonstick skillet or baking tray over medium heat. Reduce heat to medium-low and scoop a scant ½ cup of pancake batter into the pan.
  5. Cook until bubbles begin to form in the batter and the pancake is golden brown, about three minutes, then flip and cook the other side until golden brown, another three minutes.
  6. Repeat with the remaining batter. Serve with the desired toppings. (We recommend roasted pecans and maple syrup)
