We would love to return to Kamar-Taj soon!
During Strange’s first solo outing, the arrogant surgeon lost his expert skills when his hands were injured in a car accident, prompting him to see the mystical healing powers of the Ancient One (Tilda Swinton) – but discovered some wonderful skills in the process.
Now, some of his old friends are in danger of becoming new enemies in the upcoming sequel Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, in which former Spider-Man trilogy director Sam Raimi will take over from Scott Derrickson.
So here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming Doctor Strange sequel.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness UK release date
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will appear in movie theaters on March 25, 2022.
It was previously scheduled for release in May 2021 and was later delayed to November 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
However, as the crisis continued, it was again postponed.
Doctor Strange in the cast Multiverse of Madness
Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Stephen Strange
The Sherlock star is back as the former supreme surgeon and wizard.
The character will also appear in the upcoming self-titled sequel to Spider-Man: Far From Home.
Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch / Wanda Maximoff
The Avenger has been confirmed to be joining Strange for the new movie.
The film is directly related to the events of the Disney + series WandaVision, where Wanda used her powers to heat reality.
Benedict Wong as Wong
Strange’s most trusted advisor and sidekick will be back by his side after the first movie and each of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
Rachel McAdams as Dr. Christine Palmer
The Mean Girls actress reprises her role as the surgeon and love interest of Doctor Stephen Strange.
There was uncertainty about McAdams’ retaliation, but it was confirmed last December that she was starring in the film.
Chiwetel Ejiofor as Karl Mordo
The Oscar nominee will most likely return, given how the first film led him to turn against his former ally Strange in a significant way.
Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez
The Baby Sitters Club star Gomez stars as the super-powered young woman known as America Chavez.
In the comics, Chavez is an alien from the dimension known as Utopian Parallel, a reality beyond time.
She joins the central Marvel universe and takes on the nickname Miss America, later joining the team called the Young Avengers.
She is also a lesbian and one of the most prominent LGBTQ superheroes.
It is unlikely that we will see returns for it Mads Mikkelsen as Kaeciliusafter he died the last time.
She may have died in the first movie, but we could see Tilda Swinton as The Ancient One, as she also made a comeback in Avengers: Endgame.
Scott Derrickson had also said he would like to explore a bigger role Benjamin Bratt as Jonathan Pangborn, whose magical ability to walk after being disabled, was taken away by Mordo.
We could also see a return for Strange’s old colleague / rival met Michael Sthulbarg as Dr. Nicodemus West, as the couple clashed with wizardry in the comics and we can see life go on for Christine in the hospital.
It is also unknown if Cumberbatch will reprise his other role as a demon villain Dormammu
In addition, the previous director Derrickson had said he would like to explore the characters of Wong’s father and wizard Hamir the hermit, and the Ruler of the Dream Dimension known in Marvel Comics as Nightmare, while screenwriter Jon Spaihts also likes the sorceress and romantic interest of Strange, known as Clea
Doctor Strange in the plot of Multiverse of Madness
The film is set after the events of Avengers: Endgame and the recent Disney Plus series WandaVision.
Will Wanda Maximoff star in the movie, will she be Strange’s enemy or enemy?
According to Backstage, the film’s synopsis reads: “Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, Dr. Stephen Strange continues his investigation of the Time Stone.
“But an old friend turned enemy ends his plans and causes Strange to unleash unspeakable evil.”
Elsewhere, a major conflict arose between Strange and former ally Karl Mordo in the first film’s conclusion, as they disagreed over their approach to wizardry and the actions of The Ancient One.
In the post-credit scene, Karl Mordo removed the magic that allowed Jonathan Pangborn to walk, as he stated that there would be “No More Sorcerers.”
Will Strange be able to stop him?
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is released in theaters March 25, 2022.
