History

Elmwood Fair Grounds OTB & Casino was originally built as a thoroughbred horse racing track. The track opened in 1959 and was one of the first tracks in New York State to offer pari-mutuel betting. The track was originally owned by the Hamburg Fair Corporation.

In 1977, the New York State Gaming Commission took over ownership of the track. The Gaming Commission made a number of improvements to the track, including adding a casino. The casino opened in 1993 and has been a popular attraction ever since.
