Deerskin “Review and Reviews”

Jean Dujardin is a newly divorced person in the midst of a midlife personality distress. Seeking a different life and a different outlook, he dismisses his past at a roadside gas station and experiences a vintage fringed deerskin coat with compelling celestial powers.

He moves to a quiet French high city where he is mistaken for a free film producer by a daring, enterprising bartender in a tired cantina (Adèle Haenel, PORTRAIT OF A LADY ON FIRE) who turns out to be a hopeful supervisor with normal creation impulses.

Forming a dubious devotion, the two collaborate on a film propelled by the visionary deerskin coat.

The film is one of the most gruesome fashion films ever made after The Devil Wears Prada. It also keeps the angle of the comedy seen in various scenes of the movie.

88% rating was given by rotten tomatoes, IMDbs rating is 6.7 from 10. The critics of the rotten tomatoes said about this movie

“It’s a one-gag film and Dupieux doesn’t give up on his luck, limiting the running time and exploiting the comedic potential of watching Jean Dujardin from The Artist play a man who is falling apart.”

Metacritic gave 65 out of 100 based on 18 reviews, one of the critics said:

“Dupieux is not beating a message. He invites us to take risks on a ride that is as unpredictable as it is spooky. And it’s all done in less than 80 minutes. There is nothing else like it out there.”Deerskin Review: A very decent movie that follows the story of a man obsessed with his coat!

Deerskin Storyline

The story revolves around the main character of the film is Georges who is a 44 year old man, he leaves his hometown and lives alone in a mountain village. He bought €7,500 value of a dream coat made of deerskin. Georges lives in a hotel room, and he went to a bar and met Denise, the waitress and a customer.

The next day, Georges discovers that his account has been blocked by his wife. That time he becomes obsessed with the deerskin coat, he wonders in his head that he is the only one who owns a coat.

George’s dream increases: he completes his outfit with a deerskin cap that he finds after his self-destruction on the cadaver of the secretary of the inn, then, at that moment through shoes, while putting away the coats that he eventually covers. One night a bystander refuses to give him his coat because of the cold, and Georges kills him to get the coat.

He found out that his coat has bloodstains and Denise will consider him a murderer, but she trusts the final outcome and is energetic. Georges will then track down all the individuals who didn’t give him a coat at that point and kill them with a cutting edge from a roof fan that he’s sharpened.

Denise asks for more pictures and, realizing that Georges lied about the film, she offers to become its creator with her father’s money. Reassured, Georges has to finish the occasion by finishing off his outfit with a pair of deerskin gloves. Denise takes the camera and films, Georges, on the edge of a mountain street, and the silent child’s father shoots him in the head. Denise finds Georges’ jacket and continues to record.

In a mid-credits scene, Georges films himself with his coat walking towards a crowd of deer.Deerskin Review
