Gulfport Casino Ballroom History
The Gulfport Casino Ballroom is a historic landmark in the city of Gulfport, Mississippi. It was built in 1947 and was originally known as the Gulfport Municipal Auditorium. The ballroom was designed by architect William N. Bowman and features a Spanish Colonial Revival style. It has a seating capacity of 2,500 people and has been used for a variety of events, including concerts, dances, and conventions.
In 1997, the Gulfport Casino Ballroom was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The following year, it was purchased by the city of Gulfport and underwent a major renovation. The ballroom reopened in 2000 and has since been used for a variety of events, including the Miss Mississippi pageant and the Gulfport Seafood Festival.
