The American comedy television series Betty, which premiered its first season on HBO on May 1, 2020, will return soon with a second season. The series is based on a 2018 film from Crystal Moselle, ‘Skate Kitchen,’ which revolves around a Gen Z girl group trying to make a mark in New York City. Season 1 of the show was positively received with a rating of 96% by Rotten Tomatoes and nomination in the ‘Breakthrough Series-Short Form’ category by the ‘Gotham Independent Film Awards’.

The show’s renewal for season 2 was announced in June, and here we are with all the details about the second season.
Release date Betty season 2:
HBO has not yet announced an official release date for the show. The announcement of the second season came last June and given the location where the show is to be filmed, namely New York City, it would have been difficult for the show makers to start filming in the second half of 2020. Speculation might help us conclude that it may be some time before HBO announces the official release date. It can be expected by the last quarter of 2021 or early 2022.
Betty Season 2 Cast:
Season 1 had almost the same cast as the original movie, and there’s little chance of new faces joining the cast until and unless HBO makes such a casting announcement. The original cast includes Dede Lovelace as Janay, Nina Morgan as Kirt, Rachel Vinberg as Camille, Anjani Russell as Indigo, Reza Nader as Farouk, Katrina “Moonbear” Adams as Honeybear, Jules Lorenzo as Yvette and Brenn Lorenzo as Celia.
Betty Season 2, plot:
Betty follows a group of women who try to stand out in a male-dominated world of skateboarding. Moselle, the show’s writer, had said she would like to focus on cultural appropriation in the second season. So let’s guess the plot until an official synopsis is released.
Stay tuned for more updates.
