The latest trailer has dropped for the highly anticipated series Loki on Disney Plus, as we see the God of Mischief himself, played by Tom Hiddleston, embarking on his own adventure after the events of 2019 Avengers: Endgame
Loki is a character that many fans have advocated for his own spin-off movie, stepping out of the shadow of his big brother Thor as he takes on the universe, one little lie at a time. While fans wouldn’t get this wish right away, we’d learn that Loki would indeed get his own series on the Disney Plus streaming app, joining other MCU titles like WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
Now, after the great success of WandaVision and the strong reviews of the first series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier episodes eagerly await fans to see what exactly a miniseries will do to the biggest [email protected]$$ # $ in the galaxy. And we’re not talking about Thanos. Let’s take a look at the character Loki, as well as the latest trailer for Disney Plus’s Loki
Makes its debut in 2011’s Thor, Loki seemed to have a knack for mischief from the start. Loki is a character you never quite knew which side he was on because he played a villain Thor, the main villain in 2012 The Avengers, a hero in 2013 Thor: The Dark World, a combination of both in 2017 Thor: Ragnarok, and a hero, albeit sacrifice, again in 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War
The end of Loki as we knew him
In the first scene of Avengers: Infinity Warwe see Thanos and his “children” overtake Thor’s ship, full of Asgardians who eventually slaughter Thanos to “bring balance to the universe.”
Loki, desperate to save himself and his brother, once again pledges his allegiance to the Mad Titan, only to attempt to stab a dagger in Thanos’s neck before stopping the attack with his infinite stone. Thanos then picks up Loki and crushes his throat, killing him for Thor.
“No more rebellions,” says Thanos, probably a nod to us MCU believers who have worshiped Loki’s character and were finally ready for a respectable end to the God of Mischief.
In the years 2019 Avengers: Endgame, we saw the return of Loki due to the alternate timelines that Earth’s mightiest heroes had traveled to, desperate for a way to collect the infinite stones and destroy the destruction caused by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War
One such timeline was Loki, fresh from his defeat after the events of 2012 The Avengers, able to secure the tesseract that held the space rock as it disappeared from the screen and into unknown parts. But exactly where the h% !! Did he go? It is now clear.
New Loki trailer
The Loki series, scheduled to premiere on June 7, 2021, gave us our very first look at the series during Disney Investor Day 2020. Now it turns out we know even more about Loki’s future adventures, which will see Tom Hiddleston’s will see the titular role, with a supporting cast featuring Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Richard E. Grant. .
While we first thought that Loki had arrived in some sort of intergalactic DMV, it is now clear that the God of Mischief is indeed under the supervision of the “timekeepers,” a society that “protects the proper flow of time,” something Loki envisioned to screw it up when he picked up the tesseract Avengers: EndgameNow Loki is looking for a solution to reality. But will he play by the rules or do things his own way?
While the trailer certainly presents the idea that Loki may have finally met his match, given that the timekeepers clearly have Loki and his antics in their grip, we’re not so quick to believe that this series will make our favorite God of Mischief bow to everyone. It’s safe to say the latest trailer for the Loki series is the strongest yet, and gives us another taste of all the action, complexity and dare we say, disaster to come.
