Verma is a 2020 romantic drama film in Indian Tamil directed by Bala and produced by Mukesh Mehta of E4 Entertainment. A remake of the 2017 Telugu film Arjun Reddy, directed by Sandeep Vanga, starring Dhruv Vikram and Megha Chowdhury, before making his Tamil debut. The film is composed by Ratan, cinematography by M. Sukumar and editing by Satish Surya.
Filmed between March and September 2018, the release was initially cancelled, E4 Entertainment was unhappy with the release, and in 2019 the remake was re-filmed as Aditya Verma with a different cast and crew. Although E4 initially declined to release Verma, the film was released on October 6, 2020, atop negative review (OTT) sites.
Verma Vasudevan is a home surgeon. Despite being an excellent student, he has serious anger management issues that earn him the ire of a college dean. Verma’s aggressive nature has earned him a reputation among college juniors as well as his juniors. After a fight with his friend Kamal against members of the opposing team during an inter-college football game, he asks Dean Verma to apologize or leave the college. Verma initially left college, but returns after meeting freshman Megha.
Verma and his friend Ashok enter the first year class and declare that Verma is in love with Mega and promises to be exclusive to him. Megha was scared at first and began to correct Verma’s extreme attitude. She eventually responded to his feelings and they developed a close relationship. Verma has an MBBS degree and is pursuing a master’s degree in orthopedic surgery. In 15 days, the relationship between Verma and Megha grows stronger. Verma’s medical license was revoked for five years and he was evicted from the apartment. The next morning, Ashok was able to reach Verma to announce his father’s death; He and she compromise.
