A police officer was beaten to death and a sub-inspector seriously injured after allegedly being attacked by goons in the Kasganj of Uttar Pradesh, where they raided an illegal liquor factory in the area. The deceased agent has been identified as Devendra, while the SI has been identified as Ashok Kumar.
According to CP Singh, Kasganj district magistrate, the under-inspector and officer had been looking for criminals in Nagla Dhimar village at Sidhpura Police Station in Kasganj on Tuesday, where they were attacked.
Police had raided the area on Tuesday evening after a tip about a large-scale illegal liquor trade, when some miscreants captured the staff and attacked them with sticks. The main accused of the incident is said to be Moti Dhimar, the historian of Sidhpura Kotwali. 11 cases have already been registered about him.
A search was conducted and additional troops were called after the police who fled the scene of the incident notified officials. Staff were found with serious injuries in a field in Nagla Dhimar village and were taken to a local hospital. Devendra, however, succumbed to his injuries.
“In an unfortunate incident, Agent Devendra lost his life. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced that he will give ex-gratia of Rs 50 lakhs and job to a relative of the agent,” the DM said.
It has been learned that police murdered criminal Moti’s brother Elgar Singh in the encounter.
The Chief Minister’s office also confirmed the DM’s statement, saying, “ Chief Minister is in charge of the treatment of the inspector who was injured and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 50 lakhs and a government job for a family member of the cop who are alive. “
Chief Minister Yogi Aditynath has also issued instructions for strict action against “elements involved in the alleged kidnapping of police personnel in Kasganj.” “Action to be taken against the perpetrators under the National Security Act,” said the CMO.
The gruesome incident is reminiscent of the meeting with Kanpur, in which eight police officers were shot dead by gangster Vikas Dubey last year.
