About Anjelah Johnson
Anjelah Johnson was born in San Jose, California, and raised in Sacramento. She attended California State University, Sacramento, where she studied theater. After graduating, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in comedy.
Johnson got her start in comedy by performing at open mics and small clubs. She quickly gained a following for her unique brand of comedy, and in 2005 she was cast as a cast member on the sketch comedy show “MADtv.” Johnson remained on “MADtv” for three seasons, and during her time on the show she developed a number of popular characters, including Bon Qui Qui, the self-proclaimed “First Lady of Taco Bell.”
In 2008, Johnson left “MADtv” to pursue a career in stand-up comedy. She released her first comedy album, “That’s How We Do It,” in 2009, and her second album, “Laughing My A** Off,” in 2012. Johnson has also appeared in a number of films and television shows, including “College Road Trip,” “The Game,” and “Chelsea Lately.”
