Space Jam: A New Legacy officially releases on HBO Max on Friday, July 16 at 12:01 a.m. PT/3:01 a.m. ET.
This is around the same time that other Warner Bros. movies have launched on the studio’s streaming platform, such as Wonder Woman 1984, Godzilla vs Kong, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, and Mortal Kombat.
Space Jam 2 can also be watched as many times as you like, if you watch it through HBO Max’s ad-free subscription.
However, it will only be available to stream for the first 31 days after its July 16 release. That means you have until August 16 to watch Space Jam 2 on HBO Max. After that, it will leave the streamer, although we expect it to return at a later date.

“Space Jam: A New Legacy” bounced in theaters Friday, but if you want to watch from the comfort of home, you can stream the movie exclusively on HBO Max.
LeBron James, Don Cheadle, Kris Davis, Sonequa Martin-Green, newcomer Cedric Joe and Zendaya (as the voice of Lola Bunny) star in the partial live-action, partially animated film featuring beloved “Looney Tunes” characters, including Bugs Bunny (Jeff Bergman), Tweety (Bob Bergen), Tasmanian Devil (Fred Tatasciore), Granny (Candi Milo) and Porky Pig (Eric Bauza).
Directed by Malcolm D. Lee and produced by Ryan Coogler and James’ business partner, Maverick Carter, “Space Jam: A New Legacy” centers on an epic basketball tournament that begins when James and his son Dom (Joe) get stuck in a digital dimension through a tyrannical AI character named Al-G Rhythm (Cheadle).
James must bring them home safely by leading Bugs, Lola and the rest of the Tune Squad in a basketball game against AI champions. “Space Jam: A New Legacy” features NBA players Damian Lillard, Anthony Davis, Nneka Ogwumike, and Clay Thomas, all of whom voice characters in the other Goon Squad.
The soundtrack of ‘Space Jam: A New Legacy’ is absolutely to be forgotten
What senseless and disordered expectations can a critic, parent, or child even have for a Space Jam sequel? The original movie was a children’s basketball starring Michael Jordan and his sporting roster of chaotic and outdated 1930s cartoon characters. (That’s right, Bugs Bunny is older than Joe Biden.)
The Looney Tunes—sorry, the Tune Squad—and Bill Murray lured Jordan out of his weird baseball phase and into a high-stakes, hard-hitting showdown with an intergalactic threat known as the Monstars.
But it was also an excellent mix of live-action, cartoon animation and CGI in a larger-than-life sports film with a great soundtrack.
At least a quarter of a century later, I can stand behind the original Space Jam soundtrack. Not only was it a good album with some of the biggest hits of the decade (“I Believe I Can Fly”, “Fly Like an Eagle”), it was also a smart stylistic move.
I’m not saying the original Space Jam soundtrack was fucking Innervisions, okay? But the soundtrack was shockingly essential and enduring for what it was. Over time, Space Jam: Music From and Inspired by the Motion Picture and even the old Space Jam website have outlived the movie in its own right by preserving the commercial styles and sensibilities of the late 1990s.
Debating how Space Jam: A New Legacy stacks up over the original
