Thor defeats Surtur and takes the crown, but is betrayed by Loki, who steals the crown and escapes to Sakaar. Thor is imprisoned in Sakaar, a gladiatorial planet ruled by the Grandmaster, a former Elder of the Universe who hosts gladiatorial games for his patrons, including the Hulk, who has been imprisoned there for two years. Thor learns that Loki has been working with the Grandmaster and is forced to compete in the Grandmaster’s gladiatorial games. Thor, the Hulk, Loki, and Valkyrie, a former Asgardian warrior, set out to stop Hela and prevent Ragnarok. Meanwhile, Surtur attacks Asgard with his army of fire demons. Thor and the others arrive and battle Surtur’s forces. Thor defeats Surtur and destroys the Eternal Flame, seemingly destroying Asgard and killing Hela in the process. However, Hela survives and escapes with the surviving Asgardians. Thor, the Hulk, Loki, and Valkyrie travel to Earth, where they meet Doctor Strange. Strange takes them to New York City, where they meet the Avengers. The Avengers and the Asgardians team up to defeat Hela and her forces. In the ensuing battle, Hela is seemingly killed. Thor becomes the new king of Asgard and decides to rebuild the kingdom on Earth.
