Vasu falls in love with his cousin, Shruti (Samantha Ruth Prabhu), and they get married. Vasu is a happy-go-lucky guy who only wants to spend his life with Shruti. However, he is unaware of the fact that his wife has to go through a lot of hardships because of her father’s financial condition. One day, Shruti’s father dies and leaves behind a huge debt. Vasu is forced to take up a job in the city to repay the debt. He leaves Shruti behind in the village with his father. Vasu works hard and repays the debt in a short period of time. He returns to the village and is happy to see that his father is doing well. However, he is shocked to see that Shruti has become a widow. She tells him that she has been widowed since the day he left for the city. Vasu is heartbroken and decides to leave the village again. He goes to the city and starts a new life. He meets a girl named Vijayalakshmi (Trisha) and they fall in love. Vasu and Vijayalakshmi get married and have a son. However, Vasu is unable to forget Shruti. He decides to go back to the village and reunite with Shruti. When Vasu returns to the village, he finds that Shruti has been living a difficult life. She has been working hard to support her family. Vasu decides to help her and starts a business in the village. He also helps the villagers in various ways. Vasu’s actions make him a hero in the eyes of the villagers. They start calling him Srimanthudu (Great Man). Vasu’s happiness is short-lived as he is diagnosed with cancer. He decides to spend the rest of his life with Shruti and his family. He dies peacefully in Shruti’s arms.
